LovesTampaBay.com is a project of my father’s to support local pride and promote local businesses. I am the editor and I help in order to shine a light on all that is good in the world. It is a blog that highlights the local businesses, people, history, services, products, restaurants, parks, museums, fun places, and unique places in order to instill local pride, entertain, and provide a resource of information. We believe in raising everyone up by encouraging the good rather than exposing the bad.
Anyone can submit an article, and in this way we in the community connect with others and share our discoveries. We are always looking for interesting things to write about, and we are always looking for writers. By submitting an article to the editor, you show your love for your community and help others to see the good around them. You support local businesses and encourage people to buy local. When you buy locally, the owners spend their money here, supporting others in the community, instead of being sent to a corporate headquarters in another state or country. When you submit an article, you join the other writers who love their towns. You become part of something bigger.
Your article will be signed with your name and linked to a website of your choosing. The website can be your personal blog, LinkedIn page, Amazon author page (if you happen to be published), or a business or charity you operate or work for. The article will stand as an example of your skills should you ever write professionally. Send us your words at LovesTampaBay.com/share-local-treasures.html
Some things to think of when writing an article of a place:
What is unique/interesting about this place?
What value does this place bring the community?
What are all the things people might use this place for?
How might people have fun here?
Upon first visiting, what does it look/sound/smell like?
What is the history of this place?
What sentimental attachment do people have to this place?
What other interesting places are nearby?
What is your personal favorite thing about this place?
We also love to support local businesses. If you know a business that is a treasure to the community, why not write about what you like about them? If you know the owner, why not ask a few questions? Here are some ideas:
How long have you had this business?
What first interested you in this industry/field?
What are you trying to accomplish for society?
What were/are your dreams for this business?
What challenges did you encounter in starting or in running your business?
What was your “light bulb” moment?
